- The "fireside" aspect personalized the President in the eyes of the people and made him far more appealing on a personal-emotional level.

Subjunctive Question: We know that a serious concern of Roosevelt's was restoring the American faith in the banking system. His method was to use the fireside chats to establish a personal relationship with the people and communicate his message. Could the faith in the banks have been restored in a better way? In any other way? If they could, how would this have effected the resurgence in consumerism in the 50s?
