The Power Struggle
- Lenin was shot in 1921, which crippled him physically and reduced his influence in the Soviet government.
- Stalin who was head of the propaganda division, and Trotsky; engage in a struggle between the focus on consumer good and heavy industry. Stalin, being in favour of heavier industry, thought that Trotsky had gone against the Communist ideal, and after winning the power struggle, killed Trotsky through the use of the secret police.
- Stalin's slogan was "Socialism in one country", which represented his need to dedicate complete focus to Russian issues and policies. This was a drastic turn from Lenin's Communist mantra: "Comintern" (Communist international)
Addition fact: This power struggle and its place in the rest of the revolution served as the inspiration for George Orwell's classic fable Animal Farm.
