Isolationism
- Usa helps out with the Dawes plan, 1924. This is a breach of an isolationist policy.
- The Kellogg-Briand signed in 1928. Also another breach of isolationist policy.
- The United States' refusal to join the League of Nations was a result of the isolationist belief of the US congress.
- In opinions about this time in history it is common to see the view that USA was not in fact isolationist.
Isolationism continues into the 30s...
- Still limited immigration
- High tariffs
- Does not guarantee any European agreements (America is a peaceful, loving nation, unlike Europe)
- USA finally recognizes Stalin's Russia.
Subjunctive Question: Could it be possible for America's economy to reach the heights it did while America was also totally isolationist? Could these things possibly go together?
