Operation: Barbarossa
- This was the code name given to the surprise attack from Germany on Russia.
- This attack was a complete surprise, despite much warning from the Russian Secret Police.
- Germans used Blitzkreig tactics, and Russia uses a Scorched Earth Policy.
- In addition to the Scorched Earth Policy, the Germans have to fight against one of the harshest Russian winters.
- These adversities are what push the Germans to take Stalingrad.
